Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) was incorporated in 1962 and commenced operations in 1967 with an installed capacity of 100,000 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) at its Kalambaina plant in Sokoto State. Over the decades, CCNN established itself as a key player in Nigeria’s cement industry, particularly serving the northern region. In early 2018, a major milestone was achieved with the commissioning of the Kalambaina Line-1 plant in Sokoto State, significantly expanding production capacity. This was followed by the completion of the Obu Line-2 Cement Complex in Edo State in 2019. These developments resulted in a combined installed production capacity of approximately 6 million metric tonnes per annum at the Obu Cement Complex, reinforcing BUA Cement’s position as a major contributor to Nigeria’s infrastructure and construction sector. As part of its commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability, over $100 million was invested in a gas-supplied 90-megawatt power plant, complemented by the construction of a dedicated 30-kilometre gas supply pipeline. This investment ensures stable power supply, reduced energy costs, and improved environmental performance across operations.
